Gay Pride

In honour of Pride month, I decided to send out a message to my homophobic generation. The following are dialogues I have heard/had with people my age. The words not in quotes are just my thoughts on the exchange.

"Who here is against gays having the right to marry?"
Michael raises his hand.
"Ok Michael, can you tell us why?"
"'Cause, it's nasty."
Real articulate. I find you nasty, should your right to live be taken away because of it?

"My favourite character in the Lord of the Rings movies? Legolas."
"I liked him too, until I heard the actor that plays him his gay. Then I just lost all respect for him."
I just lost all respect for you.

"That's gay."
"Homophobe."
"How am I a homophobe?"
"Are you scared of gays?"
"Yea..."
"Homophobe."
It is not fucking contagious. If you can admit your fear is irrational, fine. But don't use the word gay in a negative context because you have psychological problems.

"Gays marrying? That's just wrong, its totally wrong."
"Why do you say that?"
"It's how I was raised."
Being raised one way is one thing, but having nothing to back up what you are saying aside from stating that is how you were raised is another. If you have no real reasons for your beliefs, don't press them upon others.

"Why are you against gay rights?"
"I knew a kid once raised by gay parents, and it messed him up. If gays can get married and adopt kids, it will mess them up."
You take one case, and use it to condemn thousands. And all the kids with abusive hetrosexual parents, of course, turn out fine. All the kids raised in the crappy conditions of orphanages sure have it better than kids with parents who differ from the norm. Having parents who are different couldn't possibly benefit the child by making him/her more broad minded.

and who defines what marriage should be? fat people getting married is nasty too... do you think we should take the right of getting married away from people over a certain weight ?

listen... historically it said that ' man and woman defines marriage' regardless of religion it said that god created man and woman and that defines marriage, only a man and a woman can become one, by multiplying, a gay man and another man can't have kids, a woman and a woman can't have kids, even without religion, logically it makes sense that a man and a woman should be togher not man and man and woman and woman... and even gay ppl know that it's wrong, but it's wrong morally wrong.. if fat people wants to get married that's fine, at least they can multiply, gay people can't and yes i'm 100% against it.. if i meet a gay person i won't be rude to them, but i won't front with them.. and yes why the f** should they take away history of what marriage means...

religions have nothing to do with it, they are not being forced to perform marriages for gay people. it is now just a civil right, not a religious issue.
